In English, “Listing of the residents in the pueblo of Santa Catalina and the arms (weapons) they have for the defense of this kingdom”. Santa Catalina is also known as Santa Catarina de los Tepehuanes and Santa Catalina Tepehuanes in the historical records. Gerhard relates that Spaniards from Culiacan explored the area as early as 1531 and others, using the Villa de Durango as a base of operations, also went through this area in the 1560s and later. There are still pueblitos known by the names of Tepehuanes and Presidios located northwest of the present day city of Santiago Papasquiaro, in the state of Durango, Mexico.
